Artist's Comments

Commercially available turtle form (but have no idea where I got it), it's stuffed with sand. Beaded with size 11 seed beads using embroidery, brick stitch, and peyote. Design was on the fly, pattern original. The top of the shell flips up although it's attached at the top center. Top was completed first; underneath done later. Completed Feb 2006.

It's very heavy although it's small. Fits in the palm of my hand. A fun piece to do because I had to think on the fly while trying to figure out the pattern without a pattern.

My turtle by *vivage is truly one of the most beautiful and artistic things I've seen done with 3D media in a while. Awesome! (Suggested by ~Chantaln and Featured by `dedredhed)

Goodness gracious, that's positively amazing. I honestly love the complexity of it and especially how every bead looks fitting to the turtle. I know I would probably either make a total mess of the design or make the design absolutely sloppy, but it just looks like every bead had a reason to be a specific color. You honestly did a fantastic job.. and I think it's awesome that the top part of it is removable.. like a cute little cover for the turtle XD Not exactly the shell.. maybe a blanket so it can keep warm! *Hit*

I would honestly love a figure like that in my house. It's so lovely! The bottom part of it is breathtaking, too. Seriously.. you did the face very well and I really like the peach swirls underneath it. What gave you the idea of the face anyway? That looks so interesting.. was it just something you felt like doing or was there some deeper meaning to having a face underneath the turtle?

But yeah.. amazing work. The patterns are interesting, the colors are vibrant.. it looks so.. traditional for some reason. I don't know why I use that word, but that's what came to my head XD Congratulations on the Daily Deviation, too!
